Not an evil Ultra, but there might be an alien who tests humans by sending monsters to rampage and see what humans would do. If they automatically whip out their weapons to destroy the monsters? Then they are barbaric and should cease to exist. So, no, the alien is not helping humans evolve, but rather to confirm that humans are indeed harmful species -- if left unchecked, they might make the universe unbalanced or something of that nature. I don't know if I agree. Earth (and all the lives on it) is only a tiny part of the universe, after all.
Thank you. :) Doing what is best for me is probably all I can ask for at this point. If I know anyone else is still waiting for this fic, it would put pressure on me (will they like it? Or will they think it isn't worth the long wait?) Continuing (or not continuing) on with the fic without expectations would be best.
Or perhaps the spaceships could shift sizes from big to small or vice versa, so a human can fit in nevertheless. I think I've seen at least one such alien spaceship before...
