I don't know how well it would help, but if you caught yourself thinking negative thoughts, you could flip it around and look for the positive in the situation. Like 'imagine how happy I will be when 'positive thing' happens'. Ah, I'm no psychologist, so just take this with a grain of salt. Or you can simply watch more Ultraman, since the shows are all about light and hope and positivity. ;)
Tsuburaya is known for practical effects, so I'm sure the miniatures and the kaiju costumes will never go away. Besides, their CGI effects are nowhere near what they can do with the real sets and costumes. (And I think fans would rather have the toy commercials than to have everything made on the computer.)
Well, one episode per day surely isn't too much time commitment? Ah, yes, you have many things you want to watch. What I usually do is assigning numbers to the shows I plan to watch and then use random.org to choose which to watch first.
People often say that Ultraman Ace is the most violent show. But you are right, I don't remember that show being especially scary either, and I had first seen some episodes of it when I was very young. And I like Ultraman 80 the best. The protagonist is a teacher at a middle school full of troubled students. Sadly, the school plotline is dropped after twelve episodes, but I still like the rest of the show.
