fic meme: random excerpts

When you see this, post a little weensy excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y.
I don't think this...exercise will inspire me at all, but I was just looking for an excuse to spam--er--post something without having to actually complete these Mebius fic(s) (yet). These random parts are unchecked for accuracy, grammar, characterization, etc.

The sun was bright when I woke up the next morning. I was still quite muddled about what happened last night after the girl, Naoko-chan, and I arrived at her home.
"Oh good, you are awake."
I stiffened. *That* was another voice I recognized. I didn't exactly know him and never quite talked with him, but he was probably the one human being who could give me the most trouble.
"Isana-san."
A look of confusion crossed his face, then his brow cleared and he smiled.
"You also called me that last night. Yeah, I guess he and I sort of look alike. But I didn't think many people besides little boys and their mamas watch Ultraman."
"Last night? How did I get into this room?"
He sighed. "It's a pity. I played a knight errand for a pretty lady and she doesn't even remember."
I was too tired to be embarrassed or flattered, I suppose. "Never mind. Who are you? Why are you in my room?"
"Quite direct, are you? My name is Hiroshi. I'm in your room because I'm bringing you food. And if you are still interested, I carried you up last night because you fainted dead away at my feet."
"I think you're going about it the wrong way if you want to impress her, Hiro," Naoko-chan told him. She then turned to me. "How are you feeling, Imako-san?"
So that was the name I gave her. I suppose I was very much lacking in imagination.
"I'm rather drained, to tell you the truth."
Naoko-chan smiled. "Then please rest after having your breakfast. You are fortunate that you don't have any wound other than those little scratches that almost fully healed."
Actually, there had been quite a few wounds. I should know; they hurted. But, muddled or not, I still remembered not to heal all my injuries at a ridiculously fast rate. So instead those wounds became what Naoko-chan referred to as "little scratches."
I thought I felt Hiroshi-san's eyes on me, but when I turned to look, he wasn't glancing in my direction at all. Even though apparently he was not the same person as Isana-san, it was still disturbing just the same.

Sakomizu was looking over various reports when Isana entered the control room.
"Sakomizu-san."
The GUYS captain glanced up from his desk and half-smiled.
"I'm glad to see you, Isana-kun. But don't you have work to do?"
Isana smiled at him. "My darling underlings would handle things for me while I'm away. Unlike *your* darling underlings, who spend their time frivolously spying on their day-off teammates."
Sakomizu raised a brow. "You are spending your time frivolously too by coming here."
"Ah, no. I actually have a serious purpose." Isana pulled out a thin folder and handed it to the GUYS captain. "Here's the information on a new volcano monster. It originated from the Pacific undersea off Camerate Island. The recent undersea quake shook it out of hiding. I believe it's heading for R Forest."
Sakomuzu flipped through the pages in the folder. "How? By flying?"
Isana shook his head. "It's traveling underground. Sort of like that Ankross monster you guys dealt with before. Only this time I don't think other sentient being is controlling it."
"Can it truly travel that far entirely underground?"
"I'll simply show you." Isana pulled out a small disc and put it in the console at Teppei's workstation. He walked to the front of the control room and pointed on the large screen there. "Here it uses its drill-like front legs to make some sort of a tunnel for itself. We can see the part of the tunnel that the beast has already passed through collapses back down on itself as the beast moves farther ahead."
"What is the ETA?"
Isana didn't look at the GUYS captain. "In a few hours."
Sakomizu stood up. He pressed a key on his communicator. "Return to base, everyone." Shutting off his comm, he turned to Isana. "Why haven't I been informed about this monster before now?"
"GUYS Ocean had actually caught the beast two days ago, by using the sonar from Blue Whale. We put it in a laser cage. Our mistake was to avoid stunning it, because I wanted to be able to observe its action. Earlier today, it escaped through a small hole in the laser. The opening wasn't at all apparent, but the beast obviously had some intelligence as it recognized an escape route when it saw one. It has been moving too fast and too far underground for us to catch it again."
"Why were you observing it? Weren't you supposed to destroy it?"
Isana looked at Sakomizu. "Sakomizu-san. You know as well as I do that we aren't supposed to eliminate a monster without a direct order from GUYS headquarters, unless it's threatening human's lives. At any rate, the headquarters haven't replied to GUYS Ocean's query as to what we should do with it."

There is another fic meme too (explain what I would have done differently for three completed fics), but since I haven't finished anything (not strictly true, but I don't remember much about them since those fics were done a long time ago), I think I'll pass.
The original text of the meme:
Choose three completed stories you've done, and list at least one thing about each you wish you would've done differently when you wrote it.
